Further Information
After a quick stop to pick up our freshly baked morning pastries, we head west through the sprawling Sydney Metropolitan suburban areas, where your guide will explain a little about the history of the areas we are visiting today.
Our first stop is Featherdale Wildlife Park – Sydney’s favourite local animal park.
This impressive collection of primarily indigenous animals and birds, is less than one hour from the centre of the CBD. It is specifically designed so you can blend in with the animals you’ve heard so much about – koalas, kangaroos, emus, wallabies, cassowaries, kookaburras, dingoes, owls, wombats and every manner of Australian native wildlife and birds.
Have your photo taken patting a koala or hand feeding a wallaby! Be chased by an emu or hold native reptiles and birds! If we are lucky, there may even be dingo pups in residence! You will even have a chance to get up close and personal with one the largest saltwater crocodiles in captivity.
After a wild and exhilarating morning with the animals, we head back east, to Sydney’s second city, Parramatta. The geographical centre of Sydney, it sits at the end of the Parramatta River, the watercourse which creates Sydney Harbour! It’s here we take our lunch – Australia’s favourite food – pies!
A variety of filling choices, including a light vegetarian option, can be eaten as is, or add in the full tower – Mashed potato, mushy peas and gravy! Why not make it your own creation, adding in garlic onions, chilli con carne or cheese? It’s your choice! Served with a drink, we savor our all Aussie lunch at this historic and traditional outlet. Enjoy!
After lunch we head out to the boarding point for our leisurely river cruise.
One third of people in Sydney live close to a waterway of some kind – the Rivercat is how we travel to the city and beyond. This 45 minute (approx) journey aboard the famous Rivercat travels down the Parramatta river, following its course to create Sydney Harbour. Follow the river past Olympic Park, site of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. View the multi-million dollar apartments and houses that showcase Sydney waterfront living at its best. Cruising past iconic locations and landmarks such as Cockatoo Island, Gladesville and Iron Cove bridges, and of course the jewel in the crown, the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Don’t forget to share a kiss with someone special as you pass underneath!
Our day ends from around 4:00pm (depending on Ferry arrival time) at Circular Quay Ferry Terminus right next to the famous Sydney Opera House.
